Oenanthe crocata is a powerful and deeply acting homoeopathic medicine prepared from the fresh root of Oenanthe crocata (Hemlock Drop-wort), collected during its flowering period. Belonging to the Umbelliferæ family and found in marshy places, it exerts a marked influence on the nervous system, producing effects closely resembling epilepsy, tetanus, and apoplexy. This medicine is particularly indicated in convulsive disorders, epileptic seizures, puerperal convulsions, violent mental states, and spasm-related respiratory and gastrointestinal conditions. It is characterized by sudden loss of consciousness, risus sardonicus, tetanic rigidity, and bloody froth from the mouth. Profound coldness, violent vomiting, and loss of speech further define its toxic and therapeutic picture.
